Basic Function
HF Sinclair is looking for a Crude Trader in Midland ,Texas who can lead the merchant crude and leasing trading actives for the company and optimizes and re-optimizes the crude position and executes crude supply trading strategies. Recognized as an expert within the company.
Job Duties
- Collects and analyzes market research to verify price information and to identify other potential purchasing opportunities.
- Monitors and evaluates crude market to recommend new trading opportunities. Develops and executes lease crude supply and transportation strategy.
- Identifies new and maintains current client base and develops and implements strategies to expand and establish new clients.
- Leads negotiations of crude oil purchases and/or location exchanges at the lease with producers at competitive market price.
- Maximizes profits from merchant crude transportation assets and options by adding/improving capabilities that lower transportation costs and increase market value.
- Leads the development, evaluating, and executing growth strategies for lease crude operations
- Liaises between management and crude supply and trading counter-parties to inform and update them on regular operations.
- Leads the managing of day-to-day lease purchasing activities.
- Manages the most advantageous and environmentally safe transportation method for purchased oil.
- Writes and reviews contracts and initiates client credit and assists with enforcement of compliance with credit terms.
- Researches and recommends resolution of routine problems to more experienced traders or management relating to the purchase, transportation, or receipt of crude oil.
- Acts as liaison and supports other company departments with crude oil transactions. Collaborates closely with refinery management and planners to supply optimal crude slate to the refineries.
- Travels on occasion into field to retrieve sample of oil from tank for testing purposes.
Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their superior, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.
Experience
Seven to Fifteen years or more of experience in crude supply and trading, financial analysis, and logistics in the oil and gas industry is required.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Refining experience are preferred.
Education Level
A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in business or technical related fields is required.
PREFERRED EDUCATIONAL:
MBA preferred.
Required Skills
Ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication, and the ability to network and develop relationships with others. Excellent team building and collaboration skills. Ability to influence the organization with facts based data, the ability to build consensus around plan and resulting actions. Advanced reading and writing skills, with the ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculation.

None.
Work Conditions
Office based with up to 15% travel required by land or air.
