Job Role Summary
Eskenazi Medical Group is currently recruiting a Podiatrist to function in the Community Health Center clinics. The Podiatrist will provide a full range of podiatric care to include podiatric medicine and in office proceedures for patients.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Diagnose and treat diseases and deformities of human foot: Diagnose foot ailments, such as tumors, ulcers, fractures, skin or nail diseases, and congenital or acquired deformities, utilizing diagnostic aids, such as urinalysis, blood tests, and x-ray analysis.
- Treat deformities, such as flat or weak feet and foot imbalance by mechanical and electrical methods, such as whirlpool or paraffin baths and short wave and low voltage currents.
- Treat conditions, such as corns, calluses, in-growing nails, tumors, shortened tendons, bunions, cysts, and abscesses by surgical methods, including suturing, medications, and administration of local anesthetics.
- Correct deformities by means of plaster casts and strappings.
- Prescribe corrective footwear.
- Advise patients concerning continued treatment of disorders and proper foot care to prevent recurrence.
- Refer patients to physician when symptoms observed in feet and legs indicate systemic disorders, such as arthritis, heart disease, diabetes, or kidney trouble.
- May treat bone,muscle, and joint disorders.

Minimum Qualifications, Training, and Experience
- Attendance at a four-year podiatric college providing a general medical curriculum parallel to that of traditional medical schools, but with special emphasis on the lower extremity.
- Capable of dealing with comprehensive foot and ankle care.
- Board qualified or certified by a specialty board recognized by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education (American Board of Podiatric Orthopedics and Primary Podiatric Medicine or American Board of Podiatric Surgery).
- Candidates with experience to include clinical and/or residency experience is desired; however, all experience will be considered.
- Degree of Doctor of Podiatric Medicine, or DPM.
