Job Title: Coax Splicer

Employment Status: Full-time, non-exempt (hourly)

Job Summary:

HHS Construction LLC. is seeking Coax Splicers to join our growing team. The Coax Splicer is responsible for performing tasks associated with the aerial and underground electronic upgrade and splicing of coaxial cable for cable television systems.

Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

  • Place and install coaxial cable
  • Install passive/active devices, pedestals, vaults, or coax splice cases
  • Splice active and passive CATV equipment
  • Rough balance and troubleshoot coaxial cable plant
  • Read blueprints, CATV design maps and basic electronic designs
  • Operate aerial lift and other related equipment to perform job functions
  • Frequently communicate with management on workload status
  • May occasionally perform routine construction work such as pulling rope/cables, climbing ladders, using hand tools, digging with a shovel, etc.
  • Accurately complete all required company documentation for each assignment according to established company standards and procedures (i.e., timesheet, truck report, expense report)
  • Responsible for assigned company vehicle, tools, materials, and equipment
  • Perform work in a safe manner and comply with all established company safety policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned to help team complete a project

Required Skills & Qualifications:

General

  • 3-years relevant work experience
  • Previous underground utility experience required, including T1 span construction
  • Fiber Splicing experience a plus
  • Must be able read and comprehend prints
  • Must be able to travel and work flexible hours
  • Must be certified in "working in confined spaces"
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills

Physical Demands and Working Environment:

  • Must be able and willing to work outdoors and in inclement weather conditions
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry objects of all shapes and sizes, weighing 50 to 100 pounds
  • Must be able to maintain visual and audible contact with other crewman and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement
  • Must be able to operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery
  • Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl while performing work
  • Must be able to work in small/confined areas
  • Must be able to work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses, hardhat, and any applicable safety gear
  • Coordinate movement of eyes, hands, fingers, and feet.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk, stand, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and peripheral vision.
  • Grasp and manipulate various hand tools.
  • Climbs up and down a ladder, subject to heights in bucket truck.
  • All work is performed at remote locations; driving and sitting are required.
  • Working in confined spaces.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
