Overview
The AraBartender at the Hotel Effie is responsible for the complete setup of the bar area and the mixing of drinks for all guests and servers.
Bartenders must maintain the service and cleanliness of the bar area, ensuring quality service, guest satisfaction, and control over liquor inventory.
Responsibilities
- Employees must always be positive, attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to all guests, managers, and fellow employees.
- Process guests’ checks, collect cash and process credit cards and room charges according to standards.
- Perform opening and closing side work according to standards to ensure that guests are served promptly and efficiently.
- Prepare beverages and cocktails according to the standards, for mixing, jigger use for portion control, and presentation.
- Serve guests with all food and beverage requirements in a positive, warm, friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
- Assisting with opening and closing duties, such as restocking the bar with garnishes, straws, and napkins, and ensuring that the bar has clean towels, glassware, etc.
- Ensuring the bar is well-stocked with ice, liquor, wine, and beer by maintaining par levels.
- Maintain compliance with Hotel Effie & Department SOP’s
- Maintaining bar cleanliness by wiping down surfaces, sweeping and mopping, removing soiled glassware, scrubbing coolers, and storage areas, and emptying trash receptacles.
Including lounge areas and bar stools.
- Be familiar with the system.
- Perform cashiering functions by closing checks, cash handling, and servicing the guest.
- Follow all state liquor laws. ID guests under 30 years of age.
- Assist in maintaining beverage costs by reducing waste, spills, and breakage.
- Follow prescribed procedures in serving liquor with care to avoid problems with intoxicated guests, and when necessary, management report.
- Complete beverage requisitions to maintain par levels as needed.
- Stock and clean glassware, maintain inventory par level.
- Check CO2 tanks and soda bibs to ensure that they are full and secured properly to the bar.
- Prepare all garnishes, liquor batching requirements before, during, or after service.
- Assist in cleaning of tables and all lounge areas as needed.
- Ensure overall guest satisfaction.
- Knowledge of menu items, including beers, wines, cocktails, and liquors.
Qualifications
- Must be able to effectively communicate, both verbally and written, with all levels of employees and guests in a positive, attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
- Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.
- Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines assigned by F&B management.
- Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a positive, attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
- Attend all hotel-required meetings and training.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Hotel Effie Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform.
- Comply with Hotel Effie Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
- Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas, and assist in implementing solutions.
- Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
- Must be able to cross-train in other hotel-related areas.
- Must be able to show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
- Flexible and long hours are sometimes required.
- Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- Ability to stand for the entire shift.
- Participate in the month-end inventory of beverages, as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent and / or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.
- Must be of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages, according to local state laws.
- Previous bartending experience in luxury hotels and / or fine dining restaurants preferred.
