Upholsterer

Highland Lakes Upholstery is looking for an experienced and highly skilled custom upholsterer for boats and furniture, someone that can contribute their skills in designing, crafting, fabrication, sewing, pattern making and installation of quality custom upholstery for our location in Leander, Texas.
Skills required:

• excellent design skills
• Interpreting design orders and creating upholstery stencils.
• Dismantling items for upholstery preparation.
• Measuring and cutting fabric.
• Installing foam and batting to the furniture framework.
• Installing and repairing furniture webbing and seating springs.
• Stretching out and installing fabric or leather coverings.
• Stitching, gluing, and nailing fabric into place.
• Smoothing out imperfections.
• Conducting quality checks on completed orders.
• Ability to draw and interpret design templates
• Knowledge of upholstery tools including hot knives, nail guns, and sewing equipment.
• Ability to lift, pull, and manipulate heavy objects.
• Ability to stand, kneel, and walk for up to eight hours a day.

Responsibilities

Be an integral part of the design, fabrication through completion of custom upholstery. To work independently and as a key member of a team to achieve client's objective in a time sensitive fashion. Planning, advising on fabrics, restoring frames, replacing foam and estimating labor costs.

Qualifications:

At least fifteen years upholstery craftsmanship.
