GENERAL OVERVIEW
Coordinates all pre-hospital emergent and non-emergent communication between 911 centers, the public, local EMS providers, and the medic command physicians to ensure prompt quality care to the residents of the surrounding communities
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinates emergent and non-emergent communication between 911 centers, the public, the local EMS providers, and the medic command physicians.
- Coordinates system-wide requests for EMS based patient transportation.
- Maintains appropriate documents and records them in a proper fashion.
- Coordinates all requests from local EMS providers and the emergency department for helicopter transports at the scene and in the emergency department. Performs multiple tasks in an efficient and timely manner.
- Maintain and distribute pre-hospital medications and supplies to local emergency medical services.
- Prioritizes several pertinent tasks in a timely manner. Maintains professional composure under adverse conditions.
- Operates all equipment and assures proper operation is maintained.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum
- Knowledge normally acquired through graduation from high school plus some additional specific knowledge or skills acquired through programs or schooling 12 months or less in duration such as computer operations or nursing assistant programs.
- A minimum of one year of active EMS field experience with demonstrated experience in Radio and Telephone communications and EMS Dispatch procedures required.
- EMT, EMT-P or EMS Health Professional. Incumbent must have and maintain a valid PA Department of Health Emergency Medical Technician, Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic, or EMS Health Professional certification.
- Must have a minimum of Heartsaver CPR - Course #1 which includes Adult CPR and Foreign, Body Airway instruction (FBOA). Further requirements are department and unit specific
