Your Future Team
We are looking for a staff accountant who will report to the Senior Accounting Manager and works with two senior accountants in the Houston office, which is a small subset of the broader finance group based in Chicago.
What You'll Do
Serve as a Hightower brand ambassador by upholding The Hightower Way cultural elements – Mission, Purpose, V.A.L.U.E. Experience, Commitment and Standards, promoting excellence in the internal and external client experience during every encounterImprove consistency in every client and colleague encounter by embodying the core principles of our Hightower V.A.L.U.E. Experience (Validate, Actively Listen, Leverage Resources, Understand Ownership, Express Gratitude)Partner with cross-discipline team members to support collaboration and promote a positive client experiencePrepare month end journal entries related to cash, receivables, revenue and expenses for multiple advisory teams within the firmPrepare monthly balance sheet reconciliationsReview monthly profit and loss schedules in detail for multiple advisory teams to ensure reporting accuracy and provide variance explanationsManage internal group email inboxesReview and resolve advisor teams’ financial-related inquiriesCollaborate with internal operations and third-party providers on timing and support of deliverablesHelp complete tax and regulatory filingsAssist with audit support preparationWork on special projects, as assigned
What You'll Bring
A BA / BS Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field
2 years of relevant experience in accounting or a related field
Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including advanced MS excel skills (can perform complex functions)
Strong data analysis and reporting skills
Ability to be a problem-solver
Experience with variance analysis
Previous knowledge of Oracle Cloud a plus
Ability to travel to Chicago (approx. 5 to 7 days per year)
