Summary:
HII’s Nuclear & Environmental Group is currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the Newport News area.
In this role, the Director, Administration will be responsible for selected business administration functions for the Nuclear & Environmental business unit of the Mission Technologies division of HII, reporting to the business unit’s Vice President and Chief Business Officer. This position oversees administration of business agreements between the company and various business partners; development of internal business operations standards, work instructions, and procedures; maintenance of business records; and compliance with contractual terms, law, and regulation, all in concert with Mission Technologies functional subject matter experts and process owners. The successful candidate will have significant experience creating and/or reviewing various types of business agreements, a strong aptitude for resolving complex cross-functional business matters, and the ability to manage various projects at the same time. The position is very much a “working manager” role that requires hands-on execution of job responsibilities, along with the ability to collaborate unselfishly within the larger team to achieve business objectives.
Position requires flexibility to work occasional non-standard work hours and work weeks of more than 40 hours to meet business, customer, and contractual requirements

- Prepares and/or reviews various business agreements including contracts, non-disclosure agreements, teaming agreements, memorandum of agreement, service agreements, purchase orders, etc.
- Ensures administrative compliance with terms of contracts and other agreements.
- Establishes internal standards for business operations, and develops and maintains local work instructions supporting internal processes for such operations.
- Collaborates with internal legal, financial, and operations teams to ensure agreements meet business needs.
- Collaborates with partner companies in joint ventures to achieve business objectives.
- Supports new business proposal development activities including ensuring compliance with RFP terms, creating/reviewing cost estimates, vetting partner companies and suppliers, enabling contingent hiring of key personnel, and drafting/reviewing agreements with external parties.
- Manages administrative close-out of completed projects with internal and external customers and suppliers.
- Manages internal intercompany agreements to request/perform work from/for affiliate entities.
- Supports project teams with timely and effective engagement and informed professional advice when requested.
- Supports stand-up and/or ongoing operations of international projects, including managing compliance with laws, regulations, and agreement terms.
- Manages company records and archives.
- Participates as part of a program management office in preparation, oversight and project delivery for a complex multi-year production project.
What you must have:
- 10 years relevant progressive experience with Bachelors in related field, or 8 years relevant progressive experience with Masters in related field
- Experience working in a government contracting environment
- Strong working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation
- Experience creating, negotiating, and administering business agreements
- Exceptional writing skills in a sophisticated business environment
- Strong MS Office skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Exceptional interpersonal skills marked by the ability to collaborate seamlessly with team members, partners, and customers

- Experience with U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) contracts or projects
- Experience with defense nuclear or commercial nuclear contracts or projects
- Experience with U.S. company operations in the United Kingdom, Australia, and/or Canada
