Who We Are..
This position proactively supports the US Navy Commander, Naval Air Force, US Atlantic Fleet (COMNAVAIRLANT) Habitability Program, Enhanced Quality of Life (EQOL) Project, for shipboard food service, galley, galley refrigeration, and laundry equipment by providing technical, material, and maintenance support. Position also requires training and mentoring coworker and customer personnel in techniques and processes used to assess, troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and operate systems and equipment.
*Must have a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) Badge or Common Access Card (CAC) to start.*
What You Will Do...
What You Must Have...
- High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 4 years of related experience.
- Hands on experience with troubleshooting and repair of shipboard reach-in/walk-in refrigeration electrical and mechanical equipment and components.
- EPA Universal refrigerant certification per Federal Clean Air Act - Section 608.
- Pipe and tube brazing experience and ability to pass brazing and respirator qualifications.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret complex technical drawings, manuals, and documents.
- Provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
- Ability to obtain and maintain naval base access credentials and/or badges and confidential clearance.
Preferred: Bonus Points For...
- Candidates with technical/professional certifications a plus.
- Troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair experience on US Navy galley and laundry systems and equipment a plus.
- Experience training and mentoring coworker and customer personnel in techniques and processes used to operate, assess, maintain, and repair systems and equipment is highly desired.
- Experience with US Navy 3-M maintenance management, quality assurance, configuration, and logistics support systems, practices, and documentation.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 50 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
