What are the responsibilities and job description for the Systems Administrator I position at Hiland Dairy?
A Systems Administrator I will be responsible for, but not limited to supporting application systems, software, applicable hardware, and providing IT support companywide.
(S)he will need to be a self-starter, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and able to work without direct supervision. The successful applicant will need to have the ability to collaborate with their team and engage others outside of their department.
The duties for this position include:
- Responsible for the maintenance and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization.
- Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by using diagnostics and documenting issue resolutions.
- Prioritize system issues by level of company impact.
- Perform regular backup operations and assist in implementation of processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
- Assist in desktop and helpdesk support efforts, ensuring that all desktop applications, workstations and related equipment are resolved in a timely fashion.
- Assist in capacity planning for growth and system upgrades.
- Travel to regional company locations as needed for projects and process review.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter and able to work without direct supervision. He or she will be required to sit and/or stand for long periods of time; lift and move large amounts of paperwork (boxes or files). And, will be required to stoop, bend, and reach above the head and below the knees to file and retrieve data and/or computer cables and cords.
The following qualifications are required:
- Minimum of one year database, network administration, or system administration experience
- Working knowledge of VMware virtualization or equivalent.
- Knowledge of helpdesk process development and IT operations best practices.
The following qualifications are preferred, but not required:
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, networking protocols.
- Experience with scripting and automation tools.
- Industry related certifications.
Monday- Friday 40 hours a week. This position my include nights, weekends, and some holidays
Required travel to be about 10-15 %
