Environmental Field Technician – CA

Hillmann Consulting is a nationwide, full-service environmental consulting firm with more than 30 years of experience in providing customized Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Remediation Support, Real Estate Due Diligence, Geotechnical and Indoor Air Quality services. We have immediate openings for an Environmental Field Technician in our San Diego, Anaheim, Los Angeles, and Bay Area offices. The successful candidate will have and/or develop experience in the environmental consulting field specifically with hazardous materials and industrial hygiene services including surveys/assessments of asbestos, lead, mold, and indoor air quality assessments as well as other hazardous materials and industrial hygiene investigations. Recent college graduates are encouraged to apply as this is an excellent environment to learn and grow further in the field, as well as, within the company.

Responsibilities:

In this position, the successful candidate will conduct building related environmental, indoor air quality, and health & safety assessments, as well as assist with project design and monitor contractor activities during remediation activities. The position will focus on asbestos, lead, water intrusion, and indoor air quality projects.

Candidates should be energetic and interested in building science and systems as well as environmental health & safety concerns. Technicians will spend the majority of their time at project sites in their respective areas and occasionally throughout California. Technicians will also prepare reports and other project documents related to field operations. Candidates must be able to work with minimal supervision, learn quickly, and possess excellent problem-solving skills.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • College Degree (BS, MS, MPH) in a Science-related field is required
  • Well-spoken and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to deal directly with clients in a professional manner
  • Ability to work independently
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • HAZWOPER and 10/30 Hour OSHA Construction Safety is desirable but not required
  • CA Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) or Certified Site Surveillance Technician (CSST) or ability to obtain
  • CA Lead Inspector/Assessor or Sampling Technician license or ability to obtain
  • Valid California driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Eager and available to work flexible and extra hours
  • Must be available for work during off-hour shifts on an emergency, as-needed basis
