What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Peer Advocate I or II position at Hillside?
We have a tremendous opportunity for a Youth Peer Advocate I or II at our Rochester, NY location.
This is a Full Time position – 40 hours week Monday to Friday with a flexible schedule.
The Youth Peer Advocate will assist youth in achieving their goals and living healthy, self-directed lives. This position involves connecting with youth while working with a team in order to identify, advocate, and act as a liaison between youth and other professionals and community natural supports.
Responsibilities:
- Educating and modeling for youth, how to advocate for their needs.
- Helping youth identify goals for their plan of care.
- Assisting youth in engaging in their own planning process and self-advocacy.
- Creating partnerships with youth and professionals to help meet youth’s needs.
- Co- facilitating skill-building groups and trainings for youth and staff.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Must be at least 18 years old and have: personal life experience in child serving systems (juvenile justice, mental health, child welfare, and/or education and the ability to positively and appropriately self-disclose regarding that experience
- Prior experience in the Juvenile Justice System is preferred.
- Should have a valid driver’s license and meet agency driving standards
- Must provide cover letter indicating personal life experience in a child serving system (juvenile justice, mental health, child welfare, and/or education)
Level I: $15.00 Minimum Rate per hour, $20.23 Maximum Rate per hour, based on experience.
Level II: $15.00 Minimum Rate per hour, $21.85 Maximum Rate per hour, based on experience.
