Position Purpose:
This position provides project and team leadership and support in the design, development, production, delivery, and maintenance of HIMSS career and workforce development product offerings.
In this role, the Program Manager serves as a key team member to ensure that the needs and issues of target audiences (including HIMSS members, stakeholders, committee members, and others) are met; that all career and workforce development resources and programs are of high quality and of value to HIMSS members and participants; and that the Society’s goals and objectives are met in delivering the most effective level of programming possible.
Essential Functions:
- Leads and collaborates with Product Management on the design, development, go to market strategy, communication and ongoing maintenance of career and workforce development resources, activities and product offerings as assigned. This includes the emerging healthcare leaders community, program and task force, committees, HIMSS Approved Education Partners programs, career fairs, webinars, education program collaborations, and the HIMSS Global Health Conference & Exhibition career and workforce development programs.
- Engages with internal and external content and subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop relevant and quality career and workforce development resources and programs. Serves as a liaison to ensure timely communication between SMEs and HIMSS staff.
- Assists in the facilitation of the application and selection process for volunteer groups including the Professional Development Committee and Emerging Healthcare Leaders Task Force.
- Facilitates interactions with and drives engagement by volunteer groups year-round.
- Interacts with speakers at all levels of programming within career and workforce development programs as listed above, and others as appropriate, and engages credibly with them in the execution of the various programs.
- Provides research and market analysis to identify new audiences and topics for consideration in future career and workforce development programs.
- Contributes to the strategic planning activities of the department.
- Assists in the development of budget for career and workforce development related goals and objectives and related programs.
What you will need to be successful:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Communications, Healthcare, or a related field.
- A minimum of five (5) years of related work experience preferably in a professional society, trade association, program management or healthcare management.
- Relevant health IT, association management or project management certification preferred.
- Exceptional project management skills with excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Effective listener. Ability to articulate and to sell ideas and concepts.
- Superior planning and organizational skills (with attention to detail), both strategic and tactical with an ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities and projects to efficiently manage time, meet schedules/deadlines.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with task forces, committees, and other groups to arrive at consensus.
- Successful experience working in teams and managing volunteers.
- Basic understanding of budgeting and budget maintenance.
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Self-confident and outgoing personality with a collaborative working style to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience with tools such as Personify, Checkbox, Reviewr, Attendee Interactive, Adaptive Insights, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft Sharepoint desired.
- Experience working with third-party business associates to achieve the goals of the Society.
