Job Description
- To provide nursing care for patients following established standards and practices in accordance with the South Carolina Nurse Practice Act. To apply professional nursing theory and practice to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care.
- Day shift Working weekends only traveler, floating to other ERs as needed.
- Contacts: Constant interaction with internal and external customers to include (but not limited to) patients, families, physicians, employees and visitors.
- Perform patient assessments reflecting physical, psychological, socio-cultural, spiritual, cognitive needs and functional abilities through the systematic collection and review of patient-specific data and communicate assessments appropriately. 20%
- Plans and prioritizes care based on the assessment, evaluates patient progress and revises care to attain expected outcomes. Include patient/family in planning care and evaluating programs and outcomes. 20%
- Demonstrates clinical competencies in specific area of practice as described in departmental performance standards. 10%
- Assess patient/family learning needs, plans and provides education (involve other disciplines as needed) and evaluates the effectiveness of teaching in achieving desired outcomes. 10%
- Identifies and responds appropriately to ethical issues in patient care; provides nursing care in a non-judgmental manner that respects patient diversity and acknowledges patient rights. Serve as a resource to others in addressing ethical dilemmas in patient care. 10%
- Initiates collaborative dialogue with physicians and coordinates multidisciplinary activities to plan, deliver and evaluate patient care. 10%
- Act as a patient advocate 10%
- Provides nursing care in a non-judgmental manner that respects patient diversity and acknowledges patient rights and identifies resources to meet unique patient needs. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, core measures, patient safety and quality initiatives to achieve optimal clinical and organizational outcomes. 10% Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
- For positions providing direct patient care with the nursing assessment requirement: BSN preferred, or required within five (5) years of hire date. Current RN Teammates transferring to another RN position in the same department will not be required to complete BSN within five (5) years of transfer date.
- Current RN Teammates transferring to another RN position in the different department will be required to complete BSN within five (5) years of transfer date.
- Licensure/Certification: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of South Carolina or holds a current compact/multi-state license as a Registered Nurse in a recognized NCSBN Compact State and is not a permanent resident of SC.
- Must have a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card. ACLS required for positions located in the Pain Management Clinic. All WIC service RN’s will be required to attain NRP certification within 6 months of hire and must keep this certification current.
- Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of the professional nursing theory and practice to give and evaluate patient care. Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures to administer patient care. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
- Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide on-going patient care. Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions. Skill in preparing and maintaining records and writing reports.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, hospital, medical staff and the public. Ability to analyze situations and apply critical thinking. Ability to communicate clearly. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- 2 Years Graduate of an accredited school or college of nursing. - Required PALS - Highly desired TNCC - Highly desired
