Lead GIS Technical Specialist
Duration: Contract to hire role
Location: Springfield VA – hybrid 1 to 2 days a week
Job Description
This role is a senior technical support for companywide UAT/DEV ESRI environment.
Collaborating with the business and IT support teams to build and maintain GIS system to industry best practices while supporting business needs.
Job Summary
Candidate will report directly to the Operations GeoSpatial Manager assisting in all GIS support needs for the company.
Building ArcGIS applications, collaborating with internal and external customers to build GIS reporting platforms as needed.
Work with GIS Team members to support current projects.
This position will be required to lead and mentor junior analysts and assist other employees in understanding the GIS software and capabilities to grow and expand the GIS footprint for the company.
Responsibilities:
- Manage/Maintain UAT/DEV ArcGIS Server environment
- Utilize ArcGIS Model Build, Python, VB, JAVA, C# or any other tool to automate processes, reports, and streamline workflows
- Design/Maintain GIS system to industry standards
- Develop, run, execute and test models
- Experience with EAM/GIS asset management, ArcGIS SDK, ArcGIS REST
- Create/Maintain FME jobs for UAT environment
- Create/Maintain GIS system documents
- Work closely with IT support team to manage and maintain ArcServer and AGOL environment
- Work closely with GeoSpatial Manager to complete GIS tasks and other needs as identified by the business
- Responsible for GIS processes and products including dataset conversions, data management, data creation, and in-depth GIS data analyses
- Use SQL for querying gas assets, pipe or any other company asset when needed
- Provide GIS data analysis, data mining, technical support and database maintenance as needed for the business
- Collaborate with other business units, company contractors, and local entities to complete projects and requests
- Work with local entities to maintain current GIS data and manage all new development/entity changes to be reflected in company GIS
- Must work well in a rapid paced environment, requiring the candidate to be flexible and able to handle and prioritize multiple projects at a time
- Complete any other tasks/assignments given by the Operations GeoSpatial Manager
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree Geography, GIS, Computer Science or related discipline
- Experience with ArcGIS Server maintenance
- Advanced understanding of the fundamentals of GIS
- Experience of SQL, python, ArcGIS Model Builder, and Visual Basic
- Experience in FME, data management and GIS architectural systems
- Experience in ESRI ArcGIS, ArcGIS online, Web Maps, Map Services, and Collector/Field Maps
- Experience HTML and SAP
- Experience creating and maintaining ArcGIS Online applications
- Experience managing geospatial and non-geospatial layers in the ESRI Server environment
- Experience with GIS business models and GIS reporting tools
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel
- Preferred Knowledge of geometric network, utility network, linear referencing (LRS)
- Preferred experience within Utility industry highly (Gas, Electric, Water)
- Must be able to complete assignments quickly and accurately following detailed instructions, working independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills
