Job Title: Welder
Department: MetFab
Reports to: MetFab Operations Manager
Location: Onsite, Portland, OR
Job Summary:
As a welder, you will weld stainless steel, mild steel, and Nickel alloys in a manufacturing environment with a focus on TIG welding.
Job Responsibilities:
- Plans details of work order procedures; gathers required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job
- Repairs and fabricates various items and equipment using cutting, machining, and welding techniques and equipment
- Performs welding, and fit up processes to manufacture parts to drawing requirements while ensuring parts are not overheated or damaged by warping, distortion, expansion, or shrinkage
- Prepares, assembles, and tacks weld parts and surfaces to be welded
- Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and work areas
- Notifies supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered
- Maintains quality standards and works with QC
- Follow safety guidelines, must not pose a risk to self or others, identify potential safety hazards, and initiates corrective action when necessary

- Ability to efficiently manage and organize several projects at one time
- Ability to read, understand and apply welding procedure specifications aligned to B31.3 and ASME IX
- Ability to interpret engineering and fabrication drawings
- Demonstrated ability to manage time and resources effectively
- Ability to perform math calculations with an understanding of decimal/fraction equivalence, geometry, and trigonometry
- Demonstrated ability to effectively inspect assigned work using precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, bore gages, gauge pins, or special equipment as required
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills in both written and verbal form
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 2-Year Welding Program certificate or demonstrated equivalent experience required
- Minimum 3 Years TIG welding experience
- Successful completion of an onsite welding test
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods
- Must be able to lift to 40 pounds at times
