Pre-Finish Operator, 3rd Shift

3rd Shift 10:30p-7:00aPrimary Function: Perform multiple tasks within the Pre-Finish department, casting cleaning operator, advanced knock-out and introductory grinder duties. Tools and Equipment:  Various hand tools, portable pneumatic hammer (knockout), rampe unit, various belt grinders, snap gauges, fixtures, measuring instruments Materials: Castings, sprues, grit blast, carts, baskets, ceramic shell material, PPE, etc. Direction of Others: None Working Procedure: The following are the usual major job duties, but this job description does not preclude the performance of other duties as assigned by the supervisor: • Work from routing and operator instruction sheets.   • Process parts sequentially by heats and ensure batch integrity • Receive cast sprues from foundry.  Keep record of sprues with missing pieces.  Remove ceramic material from castings by prescribed method for each number • Move parts to knockout area, or directly to rough cut off as specified • Follow grinding instructions to determine the amount of gating to be removed from castings • Replace worn grinding belt during shift as required • The ultimate goal of the department is for operators to be cross-trained for multiple functions.  Upon completion of training for not less than 6 months in all required tasks, the operator has the opportunity to advance to the next classification.  Pre-Finish Operators will be expected to learn and perform other equally classified jobs.  Pre-Finish Operators will also be given the opportunity and are expected to cross-train and learn the requirements to progress to the next classification. • Must follow all safety requirements of job as outlined on the job safety card • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor • Complete all paperwork associated with the job.  Correctly maintain all forms and instruction sheets • Maintain a clean and orderly working environment • Inform your supervisor about problems that occur • May be required to handle hazardous waste by collecting and transferring the waste into proper containers at satellite storage areas or storage areas and assuring that the containers are properly inspected, labeled, and closed as required.  Must follow correct instruction for handling hazardous waste and report any deviations to supervisor immediately.  Must attend yearly instruction in hazardous waste handling and review of current procedures if job duties could affect non-compliance.
