Maintenance Mechanic 1st Class - VH GC

We have an opening for an experienced Maintenance Mechanic at our manufacturing facility located in St. Paul, MN location.

This is a 2nd shift position M-F (2:00pm - 10:30pm)

Major Areas of Accountability:

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair existing plant equipment (Includes pumps, valves, process lines, etc).
• Ensure that equipment is operating satisfactorily.
• Work closely with first shift Mechanic to keep equipment and facilities in good repair.
• Work closely with Production and perform work in a safe and efficient manner.
• Promote total quality and safety.
• Order parts from approved vendors under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor.
• Work effectively as a crewmember of a team and maintain good working relations with others.

Qualifications: 

• Must have high school degree or equivalent.  
• Associates Degree preferred
• 3-5 yrs. Maintenance experience 
• Possess the necessary skills to be proficient in tasks with minimal supervision.
• Prefer experience and knowledge in the following areas:
  1. Preventive maintenance of process equipment (i.e. boiler, air compressors, cooling tower, etc).
  2. Repair and adjustments for standard drive equipment, such as motors and pumps.
  3. Demonstrable understanding of instrumentation/controls.

• Ability to identify and troubleshoot problems in the following areas: 
  1. Welding, Plumbing, Electrical, Pipefitting, Machinery/Equipment Maintenance
• Ability to read blue prints, understand mechanical manuals and/or electrical schematics.
• Ability to identify and troubleshoot problems in at least 3 of the following areas:
  1. Welding, Plumbing, Electricity, Pipefitting, Carpentry, Machinery / Equipment Maintenance
• Ability to lift 50 pounds, drive a forklift, lift, stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, and work in confined spaces.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, hard hat, gloves, and respirator.
• Ability to work in extreme heat and humidity as well as outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Demonstrate ability to follow oral and written instructions
