Purpose
The purpose of the Director Total Rewards is to manage the administration of the company’s various compensation plans and provide proactive analysis. The Director Total Rewards will demonstrate a full understanding of compensation management concepts, practices, and procedures to effectively develop compensation programs that will attract and retain employees.
Essential Functions
- Regularly interacts with department heads to influence total rewards decisions
- Assists the VP Compensation in setting the budget, goals, and objectives of the Compensation, Benefits departments
- Provides advice and counsel on compensation policy issues related to base salary, annual incentives, and long-term incentives for Corporate and Field HR professionals
- Performs complex analysis on effectiveness and competitiveness of existing compensation programs and models potential impact of alternatives.
- Ensures compliance of all compensation programs with federal and state regulations; prepares data for regulatory compliance and conducts periodic audits of salaries to identify any potential problems or non-compliance issues.
- Manages, develops and updates salary ranges, job codes, grades, bonus targets, etc.; partners with HR Operations to ensure accuracy and integrity of compensation data in HRIS and identifies process improvement opportunities.
- Conducts job evaluations using market data and internal evaluation, and regularly analyzes our market position on jobs.
- Manages job descriptions for clients, including auditing jobs for content to ensure all positions are classified appropriately according to FLSA.
- Manages the company’s salary structure; conducts analysis and makes recommendation for the annual Company salary range adjustment to inform performance management and merit processes
- Participates in the analysis of the impact of the company’s financial performance on the expected long-term, annual, and quarterly incentive award levels, partners and coordinates with Accounting Department to ensure incentive plan accruals are appropriately posted
- Provides internal consultation to Corporate and Field HR with regard to compensation administration issues and hourly compensation issues.
Reporting relationship and position category information
- The Director Total Rewards position as described falls under the Fair Labor Standards act as an Exempt position, under both the Administrative Exemption and the Executive Exemption tests.
- The position typically reports to the VP Compensation.
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting, Human Resources, Management, or related field
- Requires 7-10 years of directly related compensation/benefits analysis experience or equivalent education
- Requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Requires ability to analyze multiple data sources, prepare and present to Senior Management
- Requires strong Microsoft Office skills
- Requires demonstrated attention to detail, strong time management, customer service skills, and organization skills
- Requires the ability to maintain information in confidence
- Requires strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
