HNI Risk Services
New Berlin, WI Intern
POSTED ON 12/6/2021 CLOSED ON 1/28/2022

What are the responsibilities and job description for the Insurance Intern position at HNI Risk Services?

Insurance Intern, aka Student of Insurance

At HNI, we work with ambitious companies to help them de-risk their business, boost their performance and deliver quantifiable results. If the idea of being a part of an energetic, collaborative team gets you excited, read on- this internship may be a perfect fit for you.

This internship provides an exciting opportunity to learn how businesses (our high performing clients) take control over their insurance and benefits costs to become high performing companies.  As an intern, you would be directly contributing to this effort by providing client service support both internally (to your teammates) and externally to our clients in the areas of Property Casualty insurance.

We are looking for a few rockstar Insurance Interns to join us in our New Berlin, WI location. If you take pride in the quality of your work, are dedicated, open-minded, and looking for a company that is committed to helping clients boost their performance then this may be the opportunity for you.

What you’ll be doing:

So, what will an Insurance Intern tackle? You will be an extension to our Insurance Services Teams and help with the foundational service activities.

As an Insurance Intern, you will:

  • Test your skills in insurance operations while providing top notch customer service assistance.
  • Get your hands dirty by learning our agency systems and workflows - dig in.
  • Provide clerical support of existing accounts and new business.
  • Process documents and information in high volume and at lightning speed.
  • Learn how to easily juggle your numerous priorities without breaking a sweat- pressure will be no match for you.

In return, we will send you back to your fall semester with more knowledge of business practices and the insurance industry than you thought possible. We guarantee your professors will be impressed.

Investing in You:

We know that the most impactful internships involve more than just learning and performing specific job duties (although that’s all great too). That is why, we are interested in investing in you and your future career path. As part of your internship experience, you will be offered one-on-one coaching/check-in meetings with a dedicated member of our People Team to offer inspiration and guidance throughout your internship and as you look ahead at your future career.

In addition, you will also have introductory meetings with many of our dynamic leaders providing for an open discussion about their roles, the industry, career opportunities and so much more.

You are also encouraged to participate in internal educational opportunities offered through our very own HNI Academy which include classes from the Certified Risk Advisor (CRA) program, soft-skills training and industry continuing education classes.

What you’ll become:

You’ll learn what it takes to become an insurance guru and how an insurance agency operates. We will send you back to fall semester with real world job experience, more knowledge of business and the insurance industry.

Who we’re looking for [desired skills and experience]:

Whatever it takes to accomplish the above, but likely an undergrad going into their senior year with an interest and major in business, insurance or equivalent.  Also, someone passionate, dedicated, open-minded and gets along with just about anyone. Someone not afraid to take on new tools, ideas, or processes and knows how to roll up your sleeves and make things happen. This internship starts as soon as the spring semester lets out and will last until you head back for the fall semester. This is a paid internship and eligible for college credits, if applicable.
