What We're Looking For

HNTB is seeking a highly-motivated Traffic Engineer to join our Traffic team in the Carolinas. As part of the Traffic team, you will work alongside other team members on a number of our exciting projects within the Carolinas and throughout the United States. From traffic capacity analysis, microsimulation, traffic forecasting, and traffic noise analysis, our Carolinas Traffic team sets the standard and is valued as a national resource for HNTB offices around the country. By remaining client-focused, our engineers and planners are entrusted with our clients' most critical projects and assignments, and have thrived in multi-discipline settings that set us apart within the transportation practice. What You'll Do:

  • Completes assigned work within the schedule and number of hours provided.

  • Responsible for preparation and/or modification for select portions of project reports, plans, designs, and calculations.

  • Develops project quantities and assists with development of cost estimates.

  • Assists engineering teams with organization and administrative support of design files.

  • Able to self-sufficiently complete various tasks and duties including but not limited to research, data collection, field investigations, development, and design of projects.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience, or

  • Master’s degree in Engineering and 1 year of relevant experience

What You'll Bring:

  • Exhibits proficiency in applying engineering, geometric and algebraic principles in your work.

  • Displays proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and a baseline knowledge and experience in Traffic Capacity Analysis and/or Traffic Forecasting and Modeling.

What We Prefer:

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification

  • Baseline knowledge in Traffic Capacity Analysis software and/or Traffic Forecasting

  • Knowledgeable in MicroStation and/or ORD
