ABOUT THE ROLE
PURPOSE
This individual must demonstrate the ability to multitask based on the needs of the shift. In some instances as contained in the collective agreement, the employee may be required to work in excess of 8 hours per shift.
All employees are expected to follow safe work practices. Appropriate footwear, eye and head protection must be worn when working in the plant environment.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Key Responsibilities
Safety:
- Perform duties in a safe manner abiding by the plant safety polices.
- Identify and correct any safety issues identified.
- Perform field level risk assessments.
Environmental:
- Identify and correct any environmental issues noted during daily shift operations.
Quality:
- Blend and proportion materials to maintain quality parameters.
Core Responsibilities:
- To comply with all company safety and environmental requirements in the performance of the job.
- Operate all plant mobile equipment, (front end loaders, bulldozers, haul trucks, sweeper, etc…) feed and operate the primary crusher.
- To perform pre-shift inspections and insure that any safety or maintenance issues on the equipment are addressed.
- To insure that all lubrication and housekeeping is preformed on the equipment that is in operation.
- To complete all daily reports with accurate counts to the Production Supervisor.
- To identify the different types of raw materials and understand where and how they should be distributed.
- Maintain raw material flow in hoppers and feeders, which at times requires manual labor to unplug blockages. Reporting any material flow problem that could adversely impact the manufacturing process.
- Clean up around raw material hoppers, coke tunnel, and stockpile areas as needed, conducting good housekeeping in all work areas.
- Perform any and all other duties as may be assigned by the production supervisor and or department managers.
- Work any shift, including weekends and paid holidays as schedules dictate.
Results/Accountabilities
Safety:
- Support the plant management in implementing and monitoring of safety and environmental systems, conduct visitor and contractor orientation/training as needed, update safety policies as needed, participate in a TBS team, field leadership of Risk Assessment, and support Safety Audits. Promote safe practices and attitude at all times.
- Completed field level risk assessments
Environmental:
- Zero Notice of Violations during EPA inspections.
Quality:
- Zero customer complaints
- Minimum fringe product created throughout the process.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Required Education: A High School diploma or GED.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge of mobile equipment operation
- Knowledge of cement making process
- Good communication skills
- Ability to operate multiple pieces of mobile equipment
