What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grooming Manager position at Holiday Barn?

The Grooming Manager for Holiday Barn Pet Resorts is responsible for customer service, quality control of services provided, maintaining and growing revenue, team coaching, and management of an independent department. The Grooming Manager will work closely with the Facility Manager and Holiday Barn Leadership Pack to achieve the objectives and goals of the individual facility and the betterment of our company. The Grooming Manager should be a leader with enthusiasm and encouragement that helps our staff and customers achieve the levels of satisfaction.


GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY

  • Ensuring a safe and clean environment.
  • Evaluating pets prior to groom service for needs and customer satisfaction.
  • Assessing pets that have received bathing and grooming services.
  • Hire, train, and supervise grooming staff to maximize our level of service to guests, ensuring all Holiday Barn grooming SOPs are properly executed.
  • Provide clear and constructive feedback to staff regarding work performance and deliver realistic expectations or praise.
  • Sell grooming services to customers based on needs of the pet.
  • Handle customer concerns and opportunities in a professional manner.
  • Create and encourage a spirit of collaboration, cooperation, and enthusiasm within the grooming department around their work and within the entire company.
  • Work accurately and reliably with a positive attitude.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • 2 years’ experience in a grooming salon.
  • 2 years prior management experience, including management of multiple employees.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding position.
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude.
  • Availability to work a rotating schedule that includes weekends and all major holidays. We are a resort business, and these are some of our busiest times.
  • Work 35-40 hours per week with possible overtime.

  • Full time hours with competitive pay and opportunities for additional compensation based on grooming services rendered. Grooming Manager salary starts at $19 – 22/hr.

This workplace is moderately and physically demanding. Candidates must have the ability to lift and push up to 50lbs, stand for extended periods, be able to bend, stoop, reach, and stretch, along with the ability to move pets within the facility, vehicles, up and down stairs, and in and out of enclosures. The workplace is typified as a loud working environment – barking dogs, high pressure dryers, etc.
