Mechanic I

SUMMARY

Responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of production machinery.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing production equipment.
• Performing welding functions.
• Installing and maintaining electrical controls, circuits, and PLC units.
• Troubleshooting and identifying worn parts and rebuilding machine assemblies.
• Participation in equipment preventative maintenance program.
• Strict adherence to all safety guidelines, rules, policies and procedures.
• Safe handling and use of various chemicals with strict adherence to Hazardous Communication and MSDS requirements.

• Applicant must have knowledge of pneumatic, electro-mechanical systems and practical knowledge of equipment and plant electrical systems.
• Must have the ability to analyze electro-mechanical devices, trouble shoot failures and implement repairs.
• Must have written and verbal skills to effectively communicate.
• Must be physically able to climb ladders, scaffolds, and access rooftops.
• Flexibility to work overtime and partial weekends.
• Wiliness to learn new equipment and processes.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• High school or technical school education.
• Three (3) or more years of maintenance experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Textile industry, Garnett or Card machines a plus.
• Electrical background a strong plus.
• Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is a plus.
• Sewing machine repair is a strong plus.
• Experience in operating a forklift is a plus.
• Licensed electrician a strong plus.
• Basic Computer skills is a plus.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a strong plus.
