Job Purpose:
- To deliver expertise to existing and prospective clients by developing complete, accurate and up-to-date specifications, which best meet the client’s business application(s) and needs while balancing cost considerations for: trucks, chassis, cargo vans, trailers, medium and heavy-duty chassis and various equipment, as well as up-fitting necessary.
- Finalize orderable and complete specifications to flow seamlessly through the ordering process.
- Develop relationships with internal and external clients to deliver a high level of service.
- Attend informational sessions and training with OEM partners and up-fitters to stay on top of industry trends, technology and products.
- Identify opportunities to grow Holman Manufacturing’s portfolio of business when applicable.
Responsibilities:
- Specification DevelopmentResearch and develop specifications for trucks, trailers, equipment, cargo vans and up-fitting
Analyze specifications to identify improvements and cost savings opportunities, safety improvements, and other benefits to best suit the client’s business needs and applications
Work with internal and external partners to communicate and provide deliverablesComplete specifications
Cost Savings findings and back-up
Recommendations for best practice
Spec Catalog creation – partnering with internal stakeholders and departments where necessary
Partner with clients and Regional Engineering Managers to conduct Spec Reviews and Pilot Reviews where necessary
Support travel for client visits, Pilot and Spec Reviews where necessary and requested by internal and/or external parties.
Attend vendor and OEM-led training sessions to stay abreast of industry trends and product offerings.
Partner with OEM’s and vendors to drive results and secure lead times to assist with order management.
Review all specifications to confirm compatibility and accuracy, Medium/Heavy Duty Chassis, Trailers and Equipment
Selectors built in Holman’s proprietary PriceNet system utilizing the selector comparison functionality where applicable
Provide analysis and comparison of specifications across multiple OEM’s and up-fitters
- Internal Support
Assist with ordering questions related to: Expired quotes requiring updating and, when necessary, renewed client approval due to changes in equipment and/or cost
Questions regarding routing (drop ship/ship thru) when within scope.
Consultative partnering with all internal departments providing expertise to answer questions, provide research and participate in conversations with clients as requested when within scope.
- Pre-Ordering Planning: Assist with the development of and recommendation for successful ordering cycles.
Roll over cataloged specifications for assigned clients proactively to successfully execute on ordering and delivery expectations and budgetary purposes.
- Assist with securing quotes for located/approved stock purchases where necessary for local installation of needed equipment (utilize Auto Truck Group where possible)
- Assist with securing quotes for in-service units within the following parameters: Holman unit; Leased; within 6 months of being in-service.
Note – partner with Maintenance where necessary to secure quotes for in-service units outside of the 6-month window, non-Holman units and/or non-leased units.
Knowledge and Skills
- Possess experience and knowledge of Trucks (light, medium/heavy duty), Cargo Vans, Equipment, Trailers and upfitting compatibilities.
Understanding of OEM’s and after-market components
- Communication: Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with all levels of management, customers (internal and external) and vendors.
