What are the responsibilities and job description for the College Intern - Machinist position at HOLT CAT?
This position is an entry-level Machinist - College Intern and will be under the direct guidance of an experienced Service Supervisor to receive on-the-job training. The intern's primary purpose is to learn and develop an understanding of the overall Service Department operation.
1. Will attend company-instructed classroom courses as required
2. Complete online safety training and attend regular safety meetings
3. Receive coaching, mentoring, and feedback from Service leadership
On-the-job training curriculum may include:
- Perform maintenance and services supervised by a senior machinist
- Help install, repair, and replace mechanical and electronic components
- Clean and/or lubricate machines
- Examine and test equipment, components, and parts to ensure the proper functioning
- Adjust, connect, or disconnect wiring, piping, tubing, and other parts, using hand or power tools
- Adjust, maintain, and repair equipment and machine components
- Tearing down, cleaning, inspecting, and assembling cylinder heads on diesel and natural gas engines
- Take out broken bolts from diesel and natural gas engine components.
- Clean the shop area.
- Reading a micrometer
REQUIREMENTS:
The candidate must be a current student enrolled in a Skilled/technical program.
