PARTS CLERK
The Parts Clerk is responsible for maintaining and organizing parts inventory, ordering of parts, getting price quotes, and communicating with vendors. They also maintain repair records and preventive maintenance schedules for all vehicles and equipment. Additional responsibilities include assisting shop manager in day-to-day operations as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Purchase parts within the budget for repairs and stock.
- Pick up and receive parts.
- Reconcile to ensure quoted price matches price charged.
- Update vendor call list.
- Create work orders for all mechanics.
- Update daily work list.
- Update, file, review, and make necessary corrections to completed work orders in computer system.
- Issue purchase orders (P.O.s)for parts only.
- Perform shop-cleaning duties as time permits.
- Learn fleet equipmentnumber and description.
- Maintain parts inventory both on shelves and in computer.
- Maintain preventive maintenance records and inform shop manager of repairs needed.
- Compile list of needed parts for on the road repairs in other areas from work schedule.
- Assist mechanic in part preparation and all histories and reports for trip.
- Write up preventive maintenance sheets for all vehicles and equipment from manuals.
- Perform other various duties as assigned by management.
REQUIREMENTS
- Must have valid drivers license with acceptable driving record.
- Must be able to read and follow written directions.
- Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook programs.
- Able to multi-task, prioritize, and pay attention to detail.
- Able to effectively communicate with vendors, customers, and staff.
- Have a limited knowledge of mechanics and repair.
- Able to work alone and set/finish tasks for self.
- Must be able to lift 35 pounds.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS OF THE WORKPLACE
- Exposure to loud noises.
- Exposure to welding fumes, sparks, and gases.
- Exposure to ceramic, fiberglass, and/or rockwool insulations.
- May be exposed to outside work in all weather conditions.
- Exposure to volatile organic compounds (i.e. alcohol, paint spray, naphtha, etc.).
- May be exposed to confined spaces.
- Work indoors in a non-temperature-controlled environment.
