Job Summary : Patient Transporter Per Diem.
The Transporter is responsible for providing transportation for patients (infants, children, adolescents, adult, and geriatrics), specimens, mail, medical records, and equipment.
Duties include but are not limited to any other related duties as assigned
- Safely transports patients via wheelchair or stretcher
- Assists with transport of admissions, discharges and transfer of patients
- Transport of specimens, mail, medical records, and equipment as needed
- Considers patient’s safety at all times
- Reports unsafe conditions and / or incidents as they occur
- Reports any untoward or unusual occurrences to nurse
- Reports faulty equipment immediately and in accordance with Hospital Policy
- Transport patient body to the morgue
- Purposeful Encounters (if patient is asking for something, call the HUC by using the patient’s land line phone; let she / he know what the patient needs are)
- Cleans transport equipment between each patient use
Minimum Education Requirements : High school Diploma or GED Preferred.
Minimum Work Experience : 6 months of experience in a hospital, long-term care or rehabilitation setting preferred.
BLS from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association Required.
