Job Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable and driven Legal Assistant for our Pre Suit Department. The ideal Legal Assistant is someone with attention to detail who can prioritize their workload. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment as part of a close-knit team. This position will research, gather, organize, prepare, and summarize relevant materials for processing lawsuits.
The Legal Assistant must have considerable experience and understanding of managing legal documents in a sophisticated capacity. The primary responsibilities will include data entry, running reports, and following up with process servers regarding proof of service. Daily diary reports are for tracking certified returned mail, new lawsuits issued, and service of motion status. Strong knowledge of the elements required for motions and orders of alternative service is required.

Job Responsibilities
- Monitoring of file progression to perfect service.
- Electronic filing of court documents with Mi-File.
- Review court or clerk websites to determine judge/court protocol.
- Calls to and from court or county personnel regarding case status or informational needs.
- Maintaining accurate and current information in case management and client systems.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- A minimum of an associate degree and three years of bankruptcy, collections, or litigation experience, or a minimum of six years of legal assisting experience in place of the degree.
- Ability to work accurately, meticulously, and highly productively.
- Strong computer competency with Microsoft Office
- Ability to communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing.
- Superior attention to detail.
- Strong critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently and contribute to every aspect of a team environment.
