Home Smart Industries is hiring for a Vice President of Operations. The Vice President of Operations is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and overseeing operations (financing, warehouse operations, purchasing, permitting, training, product delivery, quality, scheduling, and customer service) activities in the organization, ensuring the development and implementation of efficient operations and cost-effective systems to meet current and future needs of the organization

Responsibilities

What You'll Do: 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Establish, implement, and communicate the strategic direction of the organization’s installations division
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and meet company backlog and conversion goals through ensuring timely installations and passing of all city inspections
  • Collaborate with other divisions and departments to carry out the organization’s goals and objectives
  • Identify, recommend, and implement new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline installation and warehouse processes and use of resources and materials
  • Ensure that departmental decisions and project plans such as those for staffing, development, organization, material efficiency, and facilities are in line with the organization’s business plan and vision
  • Establish, communicate, and implement installation-related policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent support and execution
  • Establish and administer the department’s budget
  • Present performance reports and metrics to the President and other leaders
  • Identify training needs and ensure proper training is developed and provided
  • Helps set the vision for the organization’s growth strategy
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • Recruit, interview, hire, and train management-level staff within the department
  • Recruit, interview, hire and train (or aligns with an appropriate trainer) staff of various departments where management-level staff is not in place
  • Determine and or assists with determining number of staff needed in various departments through communication with management-level staff
  • Oversee the daily workflow/backlog of the department
  • Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations
  • Handles discipline and terminations of employees following company policy

Qualifications

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Engineering, or another industry-related field preferred
  • At least 10 years of industry-related experience including three years in upper management required
  • Strong customer service background with an expertise in problem-solving
  • Knowledge of construction practices and labor costs in construction a plus (knowledge of the uses and costs of materials a plus)
  • Superior organizational and quality control skills with a great attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the service industry
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel
  • Must be able to sit and type for long periods
  • Must be able to operate a phone, computer, and scanner
  • Must be able to drive and be insured under company insurance
  • Criminal background check
