Underwriting Support Associate

JOB SUMMARY

The Underwriting Support Associate is responsible for reviewing documents, assisting underwriters with policy transactions and reporting, under the guidance of the underwriting staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Knowledge of company procedures, filings, guidelines, and state statutes
• Partners with Client Services and Underwriting departments in building and maintaining business relationships
• Works with Underwriting team and management to maintain and create business reports
• Responsible for the review and evaluation of condition and mitigation inspections
• Provides prompt, accurate, and courteous service to both internal and external customers
• Assists with and trains other team members to include Client Services and Underwriting departments
• Effectively and professionally communicates underwriting decisions
• Recognizes business needs and prioritizes accordingly
• Identifies and properly escalates priority issues
• Acts as a positive role model within a team environment

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Excellent communications and telephone skills
• Proficient computer and internet skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Completes assignments in an efficient and timely manner
• Team orientated, adaptable, and highly organized
• Remains patient when dealing with agents/agencies
• Clear, concise oral and written communication skills
• Maintains excellent attendance and timeliness
• Flexible with work hours and assignments
• Proactive in building industry knowledge and current with continuing education

EDUCATION & TRAINING

• Minimum two years at an accredited college; four-year degree desired
• One year or more related experience and/or training

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS

• Florida 2-20 or 20-44 license required

EXPERIENCE

• Two plus years or more related experience and/or training

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is primarily sedentary in nature. Job operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and other devices. The employee will be exposed to normal office environment conditions and temperatures. Noise level is low to moderate.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The role requires sitting for long periods of time, as well as working with computer and other electronic screens under fluorescent lights.
