Receptionist
JOB OVERVIEW: The medical receptionist performs a variety of tasks for the office. The receptionist is the patient’s and/or visitor’s first contact via telephone, and in person. The receptionist embodies the clinic’s “first impression.” The position is a CRUTIAL link between the patient and the care delivered by clinical and service staff. The employee must exhibit flexibility and a “can do” attitude. Patient services are the key priority in this position requiring the medical receptionist to serve as a point of contact with other internal and external departments, all with the goal of fostering an environment which promotes patient comfort and trust. The position must exemplify the core values and mission of the organization, always exercising utmost discretion, diplomacy, kindness, and tact in patient/staff interactions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- CPR Certified
- Prior medical office/customer service experience
- Ability to prioritize
- Detail oriented
- Must have cultural sensitivity and ability to work with diversity
- Ability to work well with others
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Performs day-to-day administrative functions and general office duties including but not limited to answering phones, data entry, scanning, copying, faxing, updating patient information upon each patient visit, etc.
- Provides information to callers according to the Clinic’s Policies and Procedures; transfer calls as needed; works together as a team to ensure adequate registration/phone coverage at all times.
- Welcomes and greets patients/clients/visitors on the phone or in the building with a smile and in a manner that is helpful and friendly; determines purpose of visit and direct patients/clients/visitors to appropriate person or department(s).
- Schedules patient flow to clinic based on predetermined appointment arrangements to allow the clinic to serve an adequate number of patients. Employee should make every effort to keep provider schedules filled to max capacity.
- Exhibits a willingness to meet patient needs. Whenever possible, accommodates patient requests when scheduling appointments.
- Verifies method of payment for service and collects payment upon check in as appropriate.
- Maintain professional appearance, conduct, and attitude at all times.
- Must have the ability to multi-task efficiently.
