Supplier Readiness Power Systems Design Engineering has an opening for an Advance Mechanical Design Engineer, this position will focus on developing and validating Code 3 Airfoils Models based on 2D drawings from legacy programs and will also be supporting GOM analysis, with the purpose of searching for a new supplier that can give us cost reduction, better deliveries, and quality parts.
Value stream supporting will be Power Systems, along with supporting Engines, Mechanical Air & thermal value streams. The scope of this position includes utilizing state-of-the-art software tools and methods and supporting Technical Improvement Teams to capture the product design intent and use of best practices and guidelines.
The successful candidate will use their advanced knowledge of aerospace products, manufacturing processes, and CAD, preferably Siemens NX and CATIA V or Pro/E CAD software which will be used to modify/create 3D models/drawings. Additionally, their knowledge of GD&T and aerospace drawing interpretation will be used to perform stack-up analysis.
Responsibilities
- Mechanical Design Engineer working with the different value streams for modeling activities for Airfoils, Airfoil validation, and GOM analysis.
- Responsible for the designs and details of the hardware. Requires extensive interaction with manufacturing shops, tool room, project engineering, design integration, materials, and analysis engineering to ensure all requirements are met.
- Requires individuals to develop design concepts, 3D models, and detailed drawings for manufacturing.
- The individual is expected to conduct design reviews, airfoil model validation, perform analysis (GOM) and produce documentation of most design activities within Honeywell policies and procedures.
- Applicants should be experienced in establishing and/or working in a cross-functional team environment.
YOU MUST HAVE
- BS Mechanical Engineering degree prefer or technically similar (Mechatronic, Aerospace)
- 5 years' experience in aerospace products design/manufacturing
- 5 years' proficiency with CAD proficiency in NX and CATIA V or Pro E, Model Base Design is a plus.
- Proficient in 2D Drafting and 3D modeling per product design standards.
- Knowledge in DRM & DSH.
- Mid-level of GOM analysis.
- Airfoil Model Validation skills
- Knowledge of ASME Y14.5M Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T).
- Product Design Expertise in Engines & Power systems and Air & Thermal different product lines.
- Strong technical, analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of Product Data Structures in a CAD environment (Teamcenter).
- Demonstrate working knowledge of standard military/aerospace parts, material, and process specifications will be useful, as well as a working knowledge of general aerospace configuration management processes.
- Perform concurrent engineering with suppliers.
- Demonstrate creative approaches to solve production issues.
