PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION: The Logistics Coordinator is primarily responsible is to work within the Logistics team to help coordinate outsourced loads, as well as verify that all deliveries are made and invoice correctly.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assign carriers to move shipments based on shipment information
  • Book and schedule all shipments
  • Negotiate carrier rates, and choose carriers based on service levels and profitability targets.
  • Monitor carrier performance and report carrier failures.
  • Maintain direct communication with the Account Executives and leadership team.
  • Ensure all loads are covered that are expected to ship each day.
  • Maintain customer and vendor files
  • Investigate and resolve freight invoice bills
  • Ability to interact professionally with customers and carriers on a daily basis
  • Receive and confirm orders for transportation
  • Organize transportation in the best conditions, in respect to the quality and the company's timekeeping standards
  • Find optimal solutions for transport and communicate solutions to customers
  • Establish relationships with clients in pursuit of sustainable business relationships
  • Negotiate spot rates with outside carriers to decide effective and profitable means of transportation
  • Responsible for the tracking and tracing of shipments with contracted carriers.
  • Coordinate with warehouse schedulers to ensure timely shipping
  • Maintain relationships with contract carriers, sales force and customers
  • Ensure all sales orders and loads are accounted for and delivered as ordered
  • Develops and provides analysis of dedicated routes and schedules
  • Ensures accurate and timely completion of daily and weekly tasks
  • Manages and maintain carrier files and invoice
  • Communicate Logistical issues (routing, drivers) with Logistics Supervisor
  • Provides weekly KPI/performance data reports to both internal and external parties
  • Assists and provides coverage throughout departments during vacations, holidays and irregular work schedules
  • Ability and availability to work extended hours including nights and weekends as needed by the customer
  • Responsible for coordinating OS&D issues at the delivery locations
  • Create and distribute weekly shipping reports.
  • Other Duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general equivalency degree required, four-year college degree preferred
  • Must be flexible and willing to work overtime when needed
  • 1-3 years’ experience in logistics and/or transportation
  • Extremely high attention to detail.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving multiple variables in changing pressure-filled situations
  • Excellent mathematical and reading skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to work well with both internal and external customers.
  • Proficient in WMS and Office
  • Ability to work independently and interface across internal departments
  • Excellent customer service, problem solving, communication and decision making skills
  • Previously demonstrated proficiency with routing/logistics software
  • Strong organizational skills.
