Pain Management Procedure Room Registered Nurse
HonorHealth Pain Management Center is the premier outpatient pain management center in Phoenix. Opening in 2016 in partnership with HonorHealth, we are committed to provide comprehensive chronic pain solutions.
The Pain Management Registered Nurse, under minimal supervision, performs a variety of duties in the department as a member of the team. Major responsibilities include preparing patients for their procedures, circulating cases and providing care for patients post procedure.
********MUST HAVE FRIDAY AVAILABILTY ******* We are looking for a candidate that can work Fridays and an additional day or 2 during the week as needed.
Essential skills:
Pre-procedure duties include but are not limited to:
- Manage patients’ admission processes to preoperative department
- Assess the status of patients’ health in pre-op and ensure accuracy of patient identification
- Ensure that operative and informed consents are accurate for the procedure scheduled
- Complete admission assessment and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for their procedure
- Initiate IVs and administer preoperative medications as ordered
Procedure Room duties include but are not limited to:
- Prepares room supplies and equipment to ensure the needs of the procedure room team are met
- Utilizes equipment according manufacturer’s recommendations and facility policies and procedures
- Monitors, positions, and assists during procedure
- Ensures on-going communication with the physician and other members of the team
- Assists with the preparation and turnover of room to ensure optimal efficiency
- Ensure the procedure rooms are adequately stocked for cases
- Provides input regarding equipment needs and supplies
Post-procedure duties include but are not limited to:
- Assess patients’ condition after a surgery has been performed
- Ensure that all vitals are within normal range
- Monitor patients for condition changes and report any changes to the physician
- Initiate patient education programs to ensure that both patients and families are educated on procedures and medications
- Determine when patients are ready for discharge based on discharge criteria
- Perform intervention duties in cases of emergencies
Skills and Requirements:
- Must be a Registered Nurse with an unrestricted license in the state of Arizona
- Minimum 1-year previous experience in PreOP/PACU. Procedure room experience preferred but not required. Will train the right candidate.
- Previous experience in pain management strongly preferred
- Current BLS upon hire. ACLS and PALS with 30 days of hire.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Detail oriented and an ability to multi-task
- Strong decision making and problem solving skills
- Must be an excellent team player and have the ability to communicate with staff, patients and physicians
- Must have Friday availability
