HonorHealth is looking for a Patient Care Specialist to support the Shea Advanced Gastroenterology location at N. 92nd Street & E. Shea Blvd. This Advanced GI office is staffed with Providers, NPs, Reg Sched, Surgery Scheduler, MAs along with a Patient Care Specialist who provide services for adult patients 18 years and older who have stomach and intestinal concerns. This is a very busy and fast-paced office with a team of motivated and collaborate members who are patient centric, provides a family-like working atmosphere and are passionate about the patients and their well-being. The ideal candidate for this role must meet the minimum requirements of a HS diploma/GED, one (1) year medical office experience and two (2) years experience in a specialty job/patient care along with a current Basic Life Support (BLS) card and either CMA or RMA or completion of a Medical Assistant program from an accredited institution. The willingness to learn, energetic personality and hard working with the ability to work in a fast-pace & busy environment are value added traits for this role. Other skills that will lead to success in this role includes good communication skills, professionalism and overall passion and having a heart for those we serve! The hours for this role are Monday - Friday; 8a to 4:30pm. In this role you will be required to complete a 6-week training at the Lake Pleasant location and upon completion of training work at the Shea office.

Responsibilities
Job Summary
The Patient Care Coordinator is the main patient contact for results, ordering labs and radiology, monitoring treatments and scheduling procedures. This position requires close communication with the providers and giving accurate information and recommendations to patients in a timely manner.
- Schedule, obtain insurance authorization and complete paperwork for radiology and lab procedures as necessary. Provide patient all applicable information regarding their procedure/visit. Receive test results and discuss abnormal results with provider and contact patient to review results. Schedule procedures and follow up visits including educating the patient regarding prep, risk and benefits, as applicable. Obtain cardiac clearance where applicable. Review all medications with patients. Ensure all consent, treatment and compliance contracts are signed and in place. Provide information and coordinate education of patients on therapy, procedures, tests and diagnosis. Obtains referral to other specialties as needed.
- Follow up with patient after procedure/visit to address any problems, concerns or questions regarding the procedure/visit and advise when they will be contacted with results. Communicate any medical problems and concerns to providers and respond back to the patient with provider recommendation. Address all patient contacts with medical needs and discuss with provider as necessary, carry out provider’s recommendations and orders.
- Maintain records of patient procedures, conversations and other pertinent information in patient charts.
- Act as liaison between provider, pharmaceutical companies and other physicians/physicians offices as necessary for continued patient care.
