Position at Hood Distribution

Distributor Service, Inc. is an industrial distributor wholesaler of decorative hardwood plywood, hardwood lumber, thermally fused melamine, particleboard, medium density fiberboard, high pressure laminate, wood finishes and stains, solid surfaces and other professional woodworking supplies. DSI is a distributor of these products to cabinetmakers, millwork casework wood shops, Institutional Case Goods, architectural designers and other professional woodworkers.

Our large, in-stock-inventory is distributed from locations near you in Pittsburgh, PA, Cleveland, OH, Millersburg, OH, Columbus, OH, Cincinnati, OH, Detroit, MI, Louisville, KY and Indianapolis, IN. DSI was recently acquired and will be transitioning into the Hood Distribution family.

Hood Distribution, a division of Hood Industries, is a wholesale distributor of hardwood lumber & plywood as well as related specialty products. Hood Distribution currently consists of twenty-four locations within eighteen states, providing distribution into Arizona, North Texas, the eastern U.S. as well as the Caribbean markets.

DSI has an excellent opportunity for a CDL Class A Driver who wishes to grow within a dynamic, growing organization. Individual must have a good driving record with a Class A License. Haz Mat Certification is helpful. Additional skills and experience can lead to a higher hourly wage.

Responsibilities:

• Perform Pre/Post trip inspections to vehicle.
• Make sure the load for transporting is secured.
• Follow a route schedule and make deliveries to customers on time.
• Follow delivery schedule and rest at appropriate times.
• Prepare freight for off-loading at customer site.
• Safely and efficiently handle and unload goods at selected destinations.
• Confirm content of each shipment load matches the manifest document.
• Obtain signatures or warehouse scans to confirm and complete deliveries with clients.
• Notify managers of any major maintenance or delivery issues encountered.
• Maintain detailed driving and delivery logs daily.
• Keep truck clean and neat.
• Always make safety a priority.
• Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive according to the weather/road conditions.
• Comply with ICC and DOT regulations.

Qualifications:

• Class A CDL License
• Haz-Mat Endorsement helpful
• Knowledge of Pre/Post Trip Inspections
• Able to Read Maps and Understand Directions
• Ability to Lift at least 50 lbs.
• Some Computer Skills
• Load and Unload Truck
• Excellent Driving Record
