WHAT'S A MOTION DESIGNER AT HOOK?
Motion Designers are passionate animators who bring stories to life with their expertise in animation principles and motion design tools. They are always learning, growing, and collaborating within a multidisciplinary team of producers, designers and creatives to create world-class ads for our clients. Whether working as the sole motion designer or as part of a team of animators, they always have the support of the larger Hook Motion Department for help, feedback, training and encouragement.
This is a mid level motion design role (Level 3: Mid I) with a Los Angeles-based team. Availability to work during Pacific Time business hours is required.
What You’ll Do
This is a full-time remote position with our Los Angeles team. Potential applicants would be expected to align with Pacific Time working hours. Offices are located in Ann Arbor and Los Angeles.

WHAT'S A MOTION DESIGNER AT HOOK?

What You’ll Do
- Collaborate with your team members to ensure motion work exceeds client expectations.
- Leverage knowledge of animation, editing and post-production tools to produce quality work that meets technical specifications.
- Become proficient in the tools and workflows Hook uses on a daily basis to maintain good communication and project cohesion.
- Be responsible for animating smaller projects (like GIF’s) solo and assisting other animators on larger and more complex projects.
- Seek out skill advancement by engaging in company initiatives and discussions.
- Promote an inclusive culture within the team and department.
- A firm understanding of the 12 Principles of Animation
- Proficiency in Adobe After Effects, Illustrator, and Photoshop and some familiarity with Adobe Premiere
- Interest in or experimentation with any of the following: 3D animation and rendering, realtime motion graphics (Lottie/Rive/Unreal/etc), basic scripting/Expressions, video editing, or frame-by-frame (cel) animation.
- Knowledge of various A/V formats and when to use them
- A strong motion reel or portfolio that demonstrates your abilities as an animator
- A growth mindset that embraces challenges and new methods of thinking
- Great communication skills, both written and verbal
