As part of the Marketing team, the Marketing Event Specialist will manage in-person and virtual events – including client-facing events, internal company events and industry tradeshows – in order to increase Horizontal’s brand awareness and market influence. The position is responsible for providing full-scale strategic event, marketing, and project management within the Horizontal event portfolio. The ideal candidate should have strong organizational, presentation, interpersonal, and communications skills. They need to be proactive in anticipating event/project needs, have the ability to prioritize word load in order to meet aggressive deadlines, and be a valuable partner to all stakeholders, management, and leadership.


What you’ll do:

  • Provide full-scale event logistics support for external client-facing events, tradeshows, corporate events, webinars, training events, and virtual events. This will require a high-level of organizational skills, detailed planning, and proactive communication
  • Serve as the project manager for all groups involved in the event planning process and provide onsite support. This includes but is not limited to vendor coordination, event timelines & decisions, marketing & creative execution, event setup etc
  • Manage budgets, food and beverage orders, audio visual orders, rooming lists, signage/displays orders, transportation requests, contract speakers or entertainers, procure promotional products, etc.
  • Partner with marketing team members and stakeholders in appropriate departments to develop marketing materials such as client invitations, brochures, signage, digital ads, email communications, etc.
  • Research opportunities and contact vendors regarding marketing opportunities surrounding in-person events for higher brand awareness visibility
  • Collaborate on the development of marketing campaigns to support the event's promotion, including landing pages, registration forms, ad assets, etc.
  • Generate and present advanced post-event recaps, reporting and analytics
  • Strive to learn and research new innovative concepts and tools to enhance event experiences, and maintain knowledge of industry trends and best practices to enhance our event quality

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Event Management, or Communications preferred
  • Approximately 3-5 years experience in Event Planning and Project Management with a B2C and B2B background
  • Experience in developing and implementing standard operating procedures, templates, budgets, and other event planning tools
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, efficient, flexible, and able to meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to proactively guide strategy and implementation
  • Enjoy cross-organizational collaboration, work in a team environment, and share knowledge
  • Confident in working with and presenting information to management and executive leadership
  • Ability to use good judgement when developing creative and resourceful solutions to ensure stakeholder’s needs are met
  • Willing to assist colleagues with projects and tasks outside of job requirements
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills; writing samples required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint)

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

  • Hybrid environment (in-office and virtual)
  • Travel is required
  • Early hours, weekends, nights, or holidays may be required
  • Light physical effort required when onsite (packing, unpacking, shipping, event/exhibit install/dismantle); lift up to 30lbs
  • May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time in various conditions
