Operations Project Manager Position Summary:
Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, this important leadership role owns Horton’s annual margin improvement process with a focus on completing cross-functional projects. This role will work closely with the Operations leadership team to identify, plan, organize, and manage projects to completion that benefit Horton’s bottom line and other operational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as needed. The person in this role demonstrates initiative, tenacity, and leadership skills that epitomize Horton cultural beliefs while building a sustainable process for improving margins year-over-year.
Responsibilities
Operations Project Manager Responsibilities:
- Following good project management practices that are aligned with Horton’s own project management approach and requirements.
- Maintaining a project funnel of cost savings improvements that have total potential exceeding $3M annually. This funnel feeds actual projects to be initiated.
- Leveraging resources across functions & locations to personally lead projects to completion that can deliver realized cost savings of $500k or more annually.
- Completing required project deliverables when possible as this is a working project manager role inside a small company.
- Leadership style & communication that fosters high level of engagement amongst the project team members working to achieve goals and objectives
- Understanding cost drivers of products and production processes, to effectively seek out good projects and identify optimal solutions that reduce costs.
- Specifying and accounting for expenses & capital expenditures needed to achieve projects, including work with accounting to build business case for projects.
- Regularly reporting to Horton Sr. Staff the status of cross-functional projects (monthly) and the overall status of margin improvement program (quarterly).
- Ability to multi-task, handling multiple projects concurrently while maintaining initiative to advance each project forward.
- Supporting projects or project leaders in Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, or Advanced Manufacturing as needed.
- Supporting changes in existing product portfolios, such as rationalization or “sunsetting” as needed.

Operations Project Manager Requirements:
- Requires a bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or equivalent.
- 2 years’ experience in an operations related role such as manufacturing, quality, supply chain, or engineering.
- Technical aptitude to initiate capital projects & drive innovative manufacturing methods.
- Excellent verbal and written skills.
- Ability to travel up to 20%
Operations Project Manager Preferred Qualifications:
- Continuous Improvement (CI) methodologies – Lean, Six Sigma, 8D/CA, or equivalent.
- Prior project manager experience and/or certification such as PMP.
- Major Automotive, HD Truck, Ag/Construction, or Power Gen Industry Experience.
Must be able to show legal authorization to work in the United States. No Visa sponsorship provided. Relocation allowance may be provided if the individual has all of the necessary qualifications.
