Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Three (3) years related, progressive experience in food & beverage industry and experience in directing the work of others
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), college degree preferred
  • Willingness to take managed risk to drive the business forward
  • Ability to remain calm, maintain perspective, and respond in a professional manner when presented with difficult situations
  • Ability to successfully function during times of uncertainty and changing priorities
  • Excellent Communication skills
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of co-workers and sister property staff
  • Ability to understand other computer programs (i.e. Point of Sale, Compeat, etc.)
  • Valid TABC Certification needed
  • Current Food Handler’s Certification

Job Responsibilities:
  • Support the team in successful day-to-day operations
  • Ensure the coffee shop runs effectively and efficiently within the Company’s operational and financial guidelines
  • Clear communication of initiatives (change/focus) to the team
  • Train and supervise team members in daily operations, service, sanitation, and safety procedures
  • Maintain working knowledge of all recipes, products and production procedures
  • Ensure all menu items are produced in accordance to the appropriate standards/procedures
  • Place daily order from Jos commissary
  • Assign duties and responsibilities to team members in accordance with work requirements
  • Demonstrate a working understanding of labor cost control through proactive floor management
  • Establish cost control objectives and implementing action plans
  • Implement inventory standards and procedures to consistently conduct an accurate inventory
  • Perform personnel actions such as interviews, corrective action and consulting with other managers as necessary
  • Hold staff accountable for their job performance through regular performance evaluations
  • Coordinate and lead monthly Jo’s events (such as Roadshows and weekly Sinners Brunch)
  • Help lead annual events such as ChiliCook-Off and SXSJ
  • Ensure open lines of communication with staff and upper management to ensure all needs of the restaurant are met
  • Resolve guest issues/feedback in a timely manner
  • Monitor compliance with health and fire regulations regarding food preparation, serving, and building maintenance
  • Maintain an increased awareness of safety issues
  • Ensure that all equipment is maintained in good, safe working condition
  • Keep abreast of safety and emergency procedures and OSHA requirements
  • Attend relevant meetings
  • Estimate expected food consumption, requisition or purchase supplies, or procure food from storage

Based upon fluctuating demands of the operation and in order to exceed expectations, it may be necessary to perform a multitude of different functions not specifically related to this position. This person may be expected to perform other tasks and duties as needed or as directed.

Working Conditions:
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • The person in this position may have to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds on a daily basis;
anything over fifty (50) pounds is considered a minimum two (2) person lift
  • The person having this position may have to sit for one (1) hour, stand and/or walk,
push, kneel, bend, balance, squat, reach and stretch for eight (8) hours per day
