Summary:

The primary goal of a Designer is to contribute to SPR profitability through support of the dealers furniture sales initiatives relative to space planning, project and bid management.

 Location: Marietta (Near Braves Stadium)

Standard Work Hours: Mon-Fri 8:00am - 5:00pm

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Key responsibilities:

  • Space Planning, project and bid management
  • Working with the Regional Sales Managers – Furniture on key furniture sales opportunities
  • Point of contact, for design, for key large customers and Lorell Diamond Dealer Showroom Program
  • Working with Regional Sales Managers – Furniture and customers on design specifications
  • Working with furniture vendors to generate bid and project pricing
  • Inquire, research, and provide customer feedback on the status of furniture orders
  • Phone use to answer customer furniture inquiries; customer service
  • Assigned performance goal achievement
  • Project commitment date achievement

Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist furniture merchandising to achieve department and company goals
  • Design customer layouts using Giza/20-20 Software to include product list
  • Work with furniture vendors on project registration and bid pricing
  • Form and maintain appropriate vendor and customer relationships
  • Maintain a spreadsheet of all bids, projects, and special pricing requests. Spreadsheet will include status of all special pricing requests and bid quotes. Negotiate vendor invoice pricing using strategy and tactics approved by SPR senior management.
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Education/Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.); in design with a minimum of three years commercial furniture design, customer service and project management; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in commercial furniture design is desired.

 

Language Ability

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. 
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

Math Ability: 

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. 
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to calculate mark up and gross profit margins.

 

Reasoning Ability: 

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Computer Skills: 

Giza/20-20 design software expert level with Cad as a plus. Excel spreadsheets, Word processing, Internet software, E-mail, Order processing, Inventory, Manufacturing software, Database software. 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

No direct supervisory requirement.

The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 10 pounds; up to 25 pounds and up to 50 pounds.
  • The vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
