Job Title: Full-Time Caregiver for Elderly Man (Temporary, 3 Months)

Job Description:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Full-Time Caregiver to provide temporary support for an 85-year-old man in Ludlow, MA, who has Parkinson's Disease with Parkinson's dementia and a non-healing broken right arm. The caregiver will be responsible for assisting with all activities of daily living (ADLs) and ensuring the client's safety throughout the day.
Key Responsibilities:
Morning Routine:
- Assist with transferring the client from bed to a wheelchair using a walker for support.
- Help with bathroom activities, including guiding the client to sit properly on the toilet using grab bars.
- Provide either a sponge bath or shower, depending on the client’s condition.
- Change incontinence products (Depends), assist with dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene.
- Support meal preparation and assist with feeding, ensuring the client swallows safely.
Daytime Care:
- Monitor the client during naps and downtime, ensuring his safety.
- Assist with light housekeeping duties, including cleaning up after meals, cleaning bathrooms, making beds, doing laundry, and vacuuming.
- Manage and organize the client's care supplies, including moving items from the garage to the bathroom.
Afternoon and Evening Care:
- Assist with lunch and dinner routines, similar to the morning activities.
- Provide cognitive engagement through board games and help with routine exercises to support leg movement.
General Responsibilities:
- Remind the client about medication schedules and assist with organizing dosages.
- Ensure a safe living environment through regular cleaning and maintenance tasks.
- Assist with household chores, including trash and recycling management, organizing supplies, and offering assistance to the client's spouse with laundry and other household tasks.
Requirements:
- Experience caring for elderly individuals, particularly those with Parkinson's Disease or dementia.
- Ability to perform safe transfers using a gait belt and support the client with a walker.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to engage the client in cognitive activities.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with the client’s spouse.
