At Houston Methodist, the Audiologist position is responsible for the routine audiometric testing to support medical or nonmedical patient management;
recommends and delivers aural habilitative or rehabilitative services for patients with communication disorders arising from auditory system dysfunction.

Responsibilities
PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides follow-up care and counseling to patients and their families.
- Administers and interprets auditory evoked potential studies as well as electronystagmography and video stag mography assessments.
Utilizes supervisory support as appropriate.
Conducts self in a manner that is congruent with cultural diversity, equity and inclusion principles Takes an active role to positively affect employee satisfaction within the department by creating a positive work environment for improvement of department scores for employee engagement.
SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Accurately administers and interprets fundamental audiometric evaluation.
- Recommends appropriate audiological services for patients. Selects, validates, and dispenses appropriate assistive technology.
- Performs, evaluates, and documents equipment calibration as assigned. Modifies test battery as appropriate for each individual patient.

Actively participates in Performance Improvement planning and efforts. Works consistently to improve systems and processes and identify trends, using situational awareness for teachable moments to improve safety with colleagues.

Qualifications
EDUCATION
Graduate degree (AuD) in Audiology or Communication Disorders with a major in Audiology
WORK EXPERIENCE
- One year of Medical Audiology experience
- Hearing aid dispensing preferred
License / Certification
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS - REQUIRED
- AUDIO - Audiologist - State Licensure and
- BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA) and
- ASHA-CCC-SLP - AHSA-Certified Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology and
- AAA - American Academy of Audiology- Certified by Amer Board of Audiology within 90 days and
- Texas Department of Health Infant Screener registration within 90 days
