JOB SUMMARYAt Houston Methodist, the Chaplain Resident position is responsible for active participation in the Houston Methodist Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program for up to a year, which includes classroom learning and individual supervision from the Educator Clinical Pastoral Education and/or Manager Clinical Pastoral Education. This position precepts with and is mentored by assigned Sr. Chaplain/Chaplain in the provision of spiritual care to meet the spiritual, religious and emotional needs of patients, families, and employees. The Chaplain Resident position is participatory in the daily life of the hospital:serving with chaplains on committees, assisting with departmental projects.

Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in theological studies or related field
- Enrollment in a Master's degree in theological studies from an institution accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or equivalency preferred
- Education approved by Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) or Cognate preferred
- Two years of membership in a faith/belief group
License/Certification

- Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform as a resident, determined through on-going skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations.
- Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security.
