JOB SUMMARY
At Methodist, the Sr. Distribution Tech position is responsible for the accurate receipt, documentation and disposition of merchandise, both stock and non-stock shipped to the offsite, HM Distribution Center. This position performs routine tasks associated with delivery acceptance, physical verification and electronic receipt into the Materials Management Information System (MMIS) and/or related (Tracking) databases. The Sr. Distribution Tech position assists in processing Purchase Order and/or inventory item returns to vendors or the Distribution Center through dedicated shipping accounts and ancillary software applications.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

PEOPLE - 20 %

- Facilitates open, professional, communication and provides instruction to drivers or approved visitors entering the facility in proper protocol for conducting inbound/outbound freight transactions and the ability to maintain a safe work environment for all in the work area. (EF)

SERVICE - 20 %
- Works with industry drivers to assist with unloading freight, sorting product accordingly and allowing for an efficient departure from the facility. (EF)
- Ensures all receipts are complete, accurate and properly dispositioned as defined on the provided documentation for each transaction and with consideration toward priority. (EF)
- Preps all stock for designated storage locations within the facility and executes for timely putaway. Works collaboratively with the Logistics Shift Lead to ensure products are readily available for fulfillment staff and the scheduled pick process. (EF)
- Provides status for inquiries on goods received or in process to order fulfillment and inventory control teams as needed. (EF)
QUALITY/SAFETY - 30 %
- Stages all inbound orders in defined areas for delivery to designated storage areas, departments or for transfer to external sites i.e.; clinical care centers or corporate building locations. Works with Inventory Control staff for completing assigned put-aways following the completion of all electronic, inter-unit stock returns or inventory transfers. (EF)
- Accurately identifies and tags all non-stock shipments via UPS Track Pad Solution and ensures all cross-dock shipments are documented within the database for tracking ability and future reference. Reports any issues with Logistics Shift Lead, relative to device failures, damage, software problems as needed. Assists warehouse management and buyer with resolving any identified discrepancies for inbound orders processed. (EF)
- Operates assigned industrial forklift in a manner that ensures the safe and accurate placement of goods in the assigned storage location. Maintains a high level of awareness for staff in the areas of operation and uses great caution while navigating the work floor. (EF)
- Identifies and reports any visible damage to warehouse rack componentry or Material Handling Equipment that is deemed unsafe for use. (EF)
FINANCE - 20 %
- Reviews all receipts for accuracy and completeness prior to saving, so that it results in a three-way match with both Purchase Order and Invoice and allows for timely remittance to vendors. (EF)
- Uses resources efficiently; does not waste supplies. Self-motivated to independently manage time effectively and prioritize department daily tasks, minimizing incidental overtime. (EF)
GROWTH/INNOVATION - 10 %
- Generates and communicates new ideas and suggestions that improve quality or services. Participates in special projects and department initiatives and seeks opportunities to expand learning with a focus on continual development. Completes and updates the individual development plan (IDP) on an on-going basis. Able to adapt to best practices involving leading edge material handling solutions and the application of them within the Distribution environment. (EF)

Qualifications:
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- High School diploma or equivalent education (examples include: GED, verification of homeschool equivalency, partial or full completion of post-secondary education, etc.)
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Three years experience working in a high volume, material handling/distribution environment
- Prior experience in a healthcare product distribution or related industry preferred
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED
- Must be certified or pass department test in the operation of powered material handling equipment (MHE) to adhere to OSHA workplace standards. Renewal required every 2 years.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through on-going skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations.
- Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security.
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles.
- Sound knowledge of current logistics/material handling practices and procedures with a specific emphasis on order fulfillment and inventory control processes and shipping procedures.
- Ability to complete work within designated time frames.
- Demonstrate proficiency in operating a personal computer or hand-held device for completing advanced receiving or inventory control procedures through the use of Materials Management Information System (MMIS) applications and basic use of MS Office applications.
- Demonstrates proficiency in operating a narrow-aisle or sit-down forklift and high-bay order selector at heights of 20 feet or greater.
