Materials Manager

The Materials Manager manages all material functions for the flow of materials, from supplier through production to customer, ensuring maximum customer service, minimum inventory investment, minimum transportation costs and efficient plant operations. They will direct and coordinate the application, implementation, and activities of the Company's MRP/ERP system to maximize its utilization across functional areas. The Materials Manager develops strategies to support the company's Business Plan objectives and targets. Will facilitate plant physical inventory and act as a liaison with customers and suppliers What needs to be done? · Innovator of positive change that favorably impacts profitability, inventory turns, OTD, and lead-time · Directs, coordinates and expedites internal flow of materials, parts, and assemblies as it relates to production control, purchasing, shipping and receiving. · Oversees all shipping, receiving and material functions which include, parts purchased and manufactured to ensure they are located properly at optimal costs · Monitors, maintains, and reduces inventory levels to meet needs of production and customers by establishing reorder points and safety stock for target level parts, supervises inventory counts on daily (if required) and annual basis, reviews variances, and monitor finished goods inventory levels to ensure on-time compliance to customer release requirements while minimizing carrying and premium freight costs · Review department/plant measurables (customer delivery, supplier delivery, premium freight and inventory) and establish corrective measures for performance adherence · Manage and ensure compliance to inventory accuracy and departmental/plant cost control · Participate and drive HBE Daily Management KPI’s related to materials management · Develop, own, update, and integrate PFEP into entire Value Chain What do you need to bring? · BS in Management Science, Supply Chain, Engineering, or other technical discipline; or equivalent experience · 7 years experience in a materials or supply chain function · This person should have exemplary leadership abilities, and be able to motivate individuals to change. Make decisions based on data, not opinion. They must be open to ideas from employees for improvement and understand the working culture of the organization. Communicate with senior executives to achieve buy-on to major changes. Create the right levers to show why urgent change is required. They must have the ability to interact with customers and suppliers to ensure that win-win changes are made · Knowledge and ability to apply lean techniques to eliminate waste and improve processes within material flow system (Kanban, flow, standardized work, pull loops, pacemaker, bottleneck management, supermarkets, operator balance charts, model value stream, etc.) · Innovator of change and extreme desire for continuous improvement · Proficiency with MRP/ERP operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite What Will You Get In Return?
