Responsible for organization, planning, implementation and follow-through of continuous improvement initiatives established within the company’s operating model: the Alcoa Business System (ABS). Drives and leads a wide range of activities that are designed to improve on-time delivery, productivity, quality, cost, safety and environmental performance.
Performance Objectives:
- Facilitate successful kaizen and rapid improvement process events with both internal and external consultants, customers and suppliers, with a major emphasis on locally focused improvement. Provide the support for all follow-throughs required to sustain the improvements established during the events.
- Coordinate and deliver team-based and ABS training to support enhanced organizational performance through imparting a thorough knowledge of team and ABS concepts, principles, and practices.
- Act as internal consultant and catalyst to assist individuals and teams in the application of ABS principles and techniques to improve operations. May provide external consulting services to other company or supplier operations.
- Coach and support leadership at all levels in meeting business improvement metrics through the application of ABS methods and techniques. Establish reporting methods to track progress and communication processes to inform the organization of results and opportunities.
- Facilitate consistent, uniform approaches for visual controls and productivity measurements to be utilized throughout product teams and the factory.
- Assist team leaders in team skill and knowledge development to support meeting management goals, project management, improvements, results measurements, problem solving, and related team skills.
- Provide overall guidance and consultation focusing on the perfection of ABS techniques. Identify opportunities for improvements, continually evaluate results, and sustain performance gains.
- Ensure that all work activities are performed in accordance with established safety and environmental standards.
- Maintain full compliance with Company policies and procedures and conducts all activities in accordance with the Alcoa Guide to Business Conduct.
- Demonstrate a knowledge of, and commitment to, ABS manufacturing principles and techniques.
- Facilitate creation and follow up of site Hoshin
- Facilitate creation and follow up of site cost reduction plan (DI)
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Solid leadership, planning, organizing and implementation.
- Ability to facilitate team-based initiatives and to interact effectively with, and to gain cooperation from, individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work independently, prioritizing and completing multiple work assignments in diverse fields with minimal direction.
- Thorough business process improvement, time-based management, quality and lean manufacturing knowledge
Education:
Highly structured and formal education and training Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or related field. A technical degree is preferred.
Experience and Background:
Experience in manufacturing work environment, which has provided a thorough knowledge of problem solving and rapid improvement.
Technical Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other business related software.
