HTC Creative Labs is a product design, prototyping, and incubation studio that provides design strategy for all HTC and collaborates directly with teams in Seattle, Taipei, and San Francisco to bring new hardware and software experiences to market. We are a small, cross-functional team of designers, artists, developers, and researchers responsible for HTC’s most significant product and experience design work over the past decade. Our focus is to create next-generation XR software and hardware experiences for the HTC VIVE brand. About Your Next Opportunity
We are seeking a talented and passionate CMF Designer to join our Industrial Design team to work on the future of spatial computing (VR/AR) hardware and the related ecosystem. You will support all phases of CMF design, oversee a variety of color and material developments through manufacturing, and help shape the long-term vision for HTC-Vive’s overarching CMF strategy.
This position requires working collaboratively with other designers, ergonomists, engineers, and program managers in an iterative fashion, across time zones with an expected 2-4 business trips to Taiwan annually. A viable candidate must demonstrate their ability to deliver first-class design solutions that reflect an understanding of the end user’s needs while balancing the underlying complexity or constraints.

Job Responsibilities
- Execute all phases of color and material development — from initial trend research to concept development and refinement, and through mass production
- Build beautifully crafted CMF narratives, strategy, and comprehensive guidelines
- Create digital and physical CMF concepts that align with our strategy
- Work cross functionally with industrial designers, UX/UI designers, engineers, and manufacturing partners
- Keen eye for color and material trends
- Conduct trend and market research and analysis
The Successful Candidate Will Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Color Theory, Graphic Design, or other relevant field of study
- 3 years of experience working as a CMF Designer
- Expert in Adobe Suite (photoshop, illustrator), Keynote or Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of Keyshot or other 3D rendering software is a plus
- Knowledge of CREO package, Solidworks, Rhino, Grasshopper, or other CAD software is a plus
- Experience in wearables and soft goods are highly preferred
- Comprehensive knowledge of CMF design methodology, diverse material technology and manufacturing processes.
- Experience in defining and executing sustainability initiatives highly preferred.
- Have an eye for clean, visually impactful design that is current and fresh. Must have a great sensitivity to color, aesthetics, and materiality, and the ability to translate trends into compelling products.
- A command of design fundamentals, a nimble mind, and an ability to thrive in a fast paced, diverse team environment are key to a success
- Self-starter with great organizational skills, but also work well with direction from a manager
- Travel domestically and internationally as required to support projects, conduct research, etc.
- Great visual, verbal, and written communication skills to ensure great presentations and a smooth working process with our global design team and vendor network
