  • Collaborate with the board of directors and the executive leadership team in preparing the strategic plan and the associated operating and tactical plans that support the company’s vision and strategy.
  • Drive company results, performance, and accountability.
  • Build strong, competent accounting team with an eye towards succession planning.
  • Oversee and manage all balance sheet accounts including escrow, WIP,  accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, partner capital accounts and all other balance sheet accounts.
  • Co-ordinate the annual external audit and tax filings including the issuance of the reports, management letter, and presentation to the owners and board. Reconcile the internal financial statements to the audit report to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain the expense authorization limit policy and ensure that authorization limits are adhered to by all company personnel.
  • Responsible to monitor and improve company internal controls.
  • Maintain the financial reporting calendar and ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports including the income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement as well as other reports such as budget variance reports and product line financial and profitability reports.
  • Review monthly account reconciliations to verify completeness and accuracy.
  • Review employee contracts to ensure appropriate accounting and payments.
  • Responsible for all accounting and administrative business processes and drive continuous improvement and efficiency and accuracy.
  • Adhere to internal controls and ensure expense authorization limits are followed.
  • Manage company insurance policies and the associated reporting.
  • Manage all treasury functions including the banking relationship, cash management and associated control.
  • Prepare additional reports and analysis as required by the executive leadership, ownership, and board of directors.
  • Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the financial reporting system (Perfect Practice) as well as the Access data base and the case management systems (Litify). Ensure the financial data in all the company systems are in balance and reconciled monthly.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. MBA, CMA, or CPA is required
  • Minimum of 15 -20 years of progressive accounting and leadership experience. Prior experience in a service industry required, law firm experience preferred
  • Experience collaborating with external auditors and timely completion of audit reports
  • Partnership tax and capital management experience is required
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports and profitability analysis
  • Must be very meticulous and possess excellent follow through
